DSO A 19 Inspectorate 1

Talk about World Cup Fever……..DSO was just too hot while Inspectorate was just too cold. Inspectorate had better get their players together for each game as this is becoming a problem to them. It is unfortunate that they had only 3 players in this game. DSO on other hand brought their fantastic 4 for the game and from the very start, the flood gates were opened. This resulted in the 1st half score of 8-1.

When the 2nd half kicked off, the fantastic 4 wasted no time and went on another rampage scoring 11 more goals. Even the referee had a hard time trying to keep track of the score. To date, this is the highest scoring game for the season as DSO A march on with an aura of invincibility.

DSO B 1 Amkor 0

This was a very interesting game because DSO B kept pounding Amkor to get a goal. But Amkor’s last man, Lei , had to be the man of the match. He is one big pillar who simply won’t barge at all. If not for him, the score line will certainly be different. DSO dominated possession in the 1st half. While this team is strong at the back, they lacked firepower upfront. As a result, no goals were scored going into the half time break.

With the start of the 2nd half came the only goal for the game. And it came courtesy of Lian Hock on the the right flank. A long shot from about 15 meters from the goal whizzed into the top left hand corner of the goal post. No last man could have stopped the goal. The only word that can be used to describe the goal was “beautiful”. With the breaking of the dead lock, DSO were visibly relieved. Amkor came fighting back for an equalizer but just couldn’t find the back of the net.

All in all, it was a good game with a good result. However DSO B need to power up their scoring prowess.

Team Ascendas 4 Kung Fu Pandas 0

While both teams looked equally matched, Team Ascendas seems to have the upper hand. The Kung Fu Pandas unfortunately were missing a number of their players due to work commitments. Ryan ‘the dazzler’ was just electrifying. This guy possesses some ‘samba’ skills imported from Brazil. His nifty moves make the game very entertaining. Ascendas scored in the 3rd and 4th minute of the 1st half.

In the 2nd half, Team Ascendas never looked back and went on to score 2 more goals. This game gives them their first win of the season. Well done, Team Ascendas. Kung Fu Pandas had better start practicing their skills to keep up the tempo.

As seen in the World Cup, all the underdogs are giving the top teams a run for their money so you never know what will happen next.

Kung Fu Pandas 3 Inspectorate 0 (walkover)

Both teams were present but Inspectorate didn’t have the numbers to carry on with the game. It was an official walkover. Kung Fu Pandas were glad with the result as they themselves had lots of casualties. As for Inspectorate , we hope to see the full squad for the next game.

DSO A 1 Saipem 0

This was the game of the night. It was a sequel to the game the week before which ended in a draw. Saipem was in full force for a win. As for DSO A, they didn’t turn up with a full squad. However their star attacker Jason, was back from an absence. How DSO wished he had played the earlier game against Saipem.

There was a lot of tension between the two teams even before the game kicked off. The game got underway and it was fast. From the run of play, a ball was crossed over to Jason from the flank and he made no mistake from just outside the “D” in the 1st minute. DSO was delighted with the early lead and had Saipem stunned. Saipem pressed on DSO’s defense but could not break it. It was a very physical game with both sides playing it to the fullest.

After the break, DSO played a more defensive game with Jason dropping back just in front of the last man to make sure that no balls get past him. However in the run of play, Kenneth from DSO accidently stepped into the ‘D’. Saipem was awarded a penalty but unfortunately they failed to convert. It was a big blow to them. They pressed on till the final whistle but they just couldn’t break DSO. The early damage done by Jason was enough for DSO to march on to victory in this return tie.

Nano Boys 0 Amkor United 8

This was a good game between the 2 sides but Nano Boys have to put in a lot of effort as a team to start changing results. As for Amkor, they gelled very well for this fixture and the goal scoring shoes of Ravi was switched on. Amkor scored within the first 40 seconds to lead 1-0 and went on to score 2 more goals in the first half. Nano Boys certainly need a better last man and more attacking options.

Amkor wasted no time in the 2nd half and were up again within the 1st minute of play courtesy of Ravi. By the 12th minute of the game, Amkor was already leading by 5 goals to nil. With the game going their way, Amkor went on to score another 3 goals ending the game with a score of 8 – 0. With the result, Amkor becomes the highest scoring team and league leaders. Time will tell whether they can stay at the top as the league continues.

TEAM ASCENDAS 2 vs AMKOR UNITED 4

Team Ascendas and Amkor United kicked off the evening game with highly entertaining football. With the World Cup Fever in the air both teams brought good fair play and clean competitive football to the courts. With both teams enjoying equal share of possession in the first half, it was Amkor who capitalized on Team Ascendas’ defensive error early in the first half to draw first blood. Team Ascendas’ strategy seems to be going for long range shots at goal. But they found Amkor’s seasoned last man too tough to beat.

The second half started off with the same tempo but some sloppy defending by Team Ascendas allowed a running man to tap in a simple goal for Amkor. However that became the catalyst for Team Ascendas who suddenly found wisdom and went instantly with wing play to square the ball to a waiting man in the center and tapping into an easy goal. Team Ascendas did that twice to level the game. But Amkor had the last say in the evening to put in 2 more goals to seal their victory. This game was seen as a perfect example of football played from start to finish. Well done Team Ascendas, and Amkor United who are currently topping the League table.

SAIPEM MALVIVENTE 0 vs DSO A 0

Saipem took the game to DSO from the start of the whistle and held them hostage in their own half for the entire game. The ball possession was a staggering 70% to Saipem and 30% to DSO. Saipem’s strategy was worth highlighting. They came prepared with 7 players and substituted their players every 2 mins. This kept up the pressure and tempo of the game up against DSO. In fact, the strategy to maximize the players in rotation is a great way to win this league since each half is only a short 10 mins.

DSO was completely strangled in the center and had no answer in the counter attack. Saipem deployed 2 players in the center and fought for every ball.

The only lethal ingredient missing in Saipem was their short passing and clinical finishing. Their players tend to hold the ball too long and miss out on the free attacking players in the center waiting for the ball. Saipem had 3 clear chances when a running player in the center was unmarked and waiting for the ball to be squared to him but only to wait in vain as the wing player held on to the ball for too long.

The other point to Saipem’s agony for the night was clearly the fact that Saipem had no Lady Luck on their side. DSO will only be happy to admit that Lady Luck was on their side instead throughout the game. Saipem missing a penalty late in the second half to seal victory is an example of their luckless game. This game had to be one that has the most misses. Saipem who should be the deserving winner with at least 4 goals but went home with a frustrating draw. We look forward for the both teams locking horns again soon!

Saipem Malvivente 6 Inspectorate 1

This game was very physical and technical by both sides. Within the 1st minute of play, Saipem got their 1st goal. And on the 6th minute, 3 more goals came consecutively on a goal a minute. Saipem were just brushing past their opponents though Inspectorate looked better organized. The half time score was 4-0 to Saipem.

In the 2nd half, Saipem wasted no time, again scoring their next goal within the 1st minute. They added another one to their tally in the 13th minute. Inspectorate managed to score a consolation goal in the 14th minute through some confusion on the part of Saipem. Hope that they will score more goals in the games to come. Saipem, on the other hand certainly looked like strong contenders for the championship.

DSO A 10 Nanoboys 0

This was very much a one sided game with DSO A trashing their opponents. The lethal partnership of Leam, the scorer, and Jason ,the provider makes this strike force unstoppable. Leam must have scored at least half of the total goals. DSO A scored 6 goals past Nanoboys in the 1st half. Credit must go to Nanoboys for containing DSO because the score line could have been worse.

However when the 2nd half started, no goals were scored. And this was because Jason and Leam were resting. Once the both of them came on in the 3rd minute, the rest is history. There were 4 consecutive goals from the 3rd to the 6th minute. The bookies would be at a loss if such performances are seen in the upcoming World Cup. DSO marched on with a comfortable win. Can last year’s runner up clinch the title this year? Time will tell.
